Fundraising/Volunteer System

To ensure the success of the HYHA season, the family of each player is required to fulfill a preset number of Volunteer Dibs Points during each hockey season. Volunteer Dibs Points is essential to our program's success.

Dibs Points is volunteered time that replaces what HYHA would otherwise have to hire an employee and thus keeping registration fees low. Dibs Points may be completed/donated by extended family and friends if necessary.

Every family must chose to either complete the number of Volunteer Dibs Points for the season, or choose the Volunteer Dibs Buyout. If you have multiple players in your family, the required amount of league Dibs Points for your oldest child is what must be completed for the family.

If you are interested in volunteering as a member of the coaching staff, team manager, locker room monitor, or fundraising committee, please acknowledge this on your player registration form.

Frequently Asked Questitons

How many Dibs Points does my family need to complete?

How do I sign up for a Volunteer Session?

What if I can't complete the shift that I signed up for?

You may cancel your Dibs shift if it is more than 2 days prior to the shift. This will give ample time for someone else to claim it. Once the shift is within 2 days, there is not enough time to guarantee that someone will claim it. You will need to complete the shift or have someone cover it for you. Communicate with your Team Manager and team families to see if someone is able to cover the shift.

How do I track my families Dibs Points?

When you are logged into your account, under the Volunteer Tab, you are able to track the following:

  • How many Dibs Points your family must complete
  • How many Dibs Points your family has completed
  • How many Dibs Points your family has committed to
  • How many Dibs Points your family still needs to complete

Fundraising Opportunities

Annual HYHA Banquet

The Annual Banquet is the biggest fundraiser of the season for the Havre Youth Hockey Association and plays a vital role in supporting our program each year. Funds raised help keep registration fees affordable for families, provide sponsorship opportunities for players in need, and support important rink maintenance and improvement projects.

This event truly takes all hands on deck, and we are always looking for volunteers to join the Banquet Committee. There are many ways to help both leading up to the event and during the banquet itself, making it a great opportunity for families to complete a majority of their Dibs Points for the season. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jenna Erhard.

Cash Raffle

Another great opportunity to support the Havre Youth Hockey Association is our Annual Cash Raffle. Tickets can be purchased from any local HYHA player for a chance to win cash prizes of $500, $1,000, or the $2,000 grand prize!

All proceeds from the raffle directly support our association by helping keep registration costs affordable, providing sponsorship opportunities for families in need, assisting with monthly operating expenses, and supporting rink maintenance and improvement projects.

Tournaments

Hosting home tournaments is one of the most rewarding ways we support our players while raising funds for the Havre Youth Hockey Association. These events bring teams and families from across the region to our community, creating an exciting atmosphere for our players and showcasing everything that makes Havre hockey special.

Successful tournaments require a team effort, with volunteers helping before, during, and after the event with planning, sponsorships, hospitality, game-day operations, raffles, concessions, and more. While hosting a tournament is a lot of work, it is also one of the most fun and memorable experiences of the season for our players, families, and volunteers. Funds raised through our tournaments help support association programs, keep registration fees affordable, and contribute to ongoing rink and facility needs.

If you are interested in helping plan and organize our tournaments, we encourage you to join the Tournament Committee. Your time and ideas can make a significant impact on the success of these events and the future of youth hockey in our community.
